Harris and Negoro

           

           ThedayafterthatonwhichDickSandandhiscompanionshadestablishedtheirlasthaltintheforest,twomenmettogetheraboutthreemilesfromthere,asithadbeenpreviouslyarrangedbetweenthem.

           ThesetwomenwereHarrisandNegoro;andwearegoingtoseenowwhatchancehadbroughttogether,onthecoastofAngola,thePortuguesecomefromNewZealand,andtheAmerican,whomthebusinessoftraderobligedtooftentraversethisprovinceofWesternAfrica.

           HarrisandNegorowereseatedatthefootofanenormousbanyan,onthesteepbankofanimpetuousstream,whichranbetweenadoublehedgeofpapyrus.

           Theconversationcommenced,forthePortugueseandtheAmericanhadjustmet,andatfirsttheydweltonthedeedswhichhadbeenaccomplishedduringtheselasthours.
