           IntheeveningwewentroundtotheCummings’,tohaveafewfireworks.Itbegantorain,andIthoughtitratherdull.Oneofmysquibswouldnotgooff,andGowingsaid:“Hititonyourboot,boy;itwillgooffthen.”Igaveitafewknocksontheendofmyboot,anditwentoffwithoneloudexplosion,andburntmyfingersratherbadly.IgavetherestofthesquibstothelittleCummings’boytoletoff.

           November7.LupinaskedCarrietocallonMrs.Mutlar,butCarriesaidshethoughtMrs.Mutlaroughttocallonherfirst.IagreedwithCarrie,andthisledtoanargument.
