           "Wouldyouliketofly,Nicholson?"askedKarlsson.

           "Comealongthen,littleNicholson,"saidKarlsson,liftingthepuppyinhisarms.

           Asecondlatertheywereflying,KarlssonandNicholson.Firsttheyrosetowardtheceilingandcircledaroundthelighttwice,thentheyshotstraightoutofthewindow.AtthisevenJackwentpalewithastonishment.

           ThechildrenallrushedtothewindowandstoodtherewatchingKarlssonandNicholsonfloatovertherooftops.ButEriccalleddesperately,"Karlsson,Karlsson,bringbackmydog!"

           KarlssonsoonreturnedandputNicholsononthefloor.Nicholsonshookhimselfandlookedsosurprisedonemighthavethoughtitwasthefirstflightofhislife.

           "Well,that’sallfortoday.We’venothingelsetooffer,"saidKarlsson."Butyouhave,"hesaid,givingJackalittlenudge.

           Jackdidnottakethehint.
