"Fifteen,"hesaid."That’lljustdoforsupper.Hi-ho,I’vegottogohomeandhavemysupper."AndKarlssondisappearedthroughthewindow.
Itwastimeforthechildrentogohome,includingBridgetandChristopher.EricandNicholsonwereleftalone,andEricwasglad.Hepickedthepuppyupinhisarmsandsatwhisperingtohim.Thepuppylickedhisfaceandwenttosleep.Hecouldheargentlesoundsofbreathingfromthesleepingpuppy.
