           Lauriecameeveryday,andwheedledAuntMarchtillAmywasallowedtogooutwithhim,whentheywalkedandrodeandhadcapitaltimes.Afterdinner,shehadtoreadaloud,andsitstillwhiletheoldladyslept,whichsheusuallydidforanhour,asshedroppedoffoverthefirstpage.Thenpatchworkortowelsappeared,andAmysewedwithoutwardmeeknessandinwardrebelliontilldusk,whenshewasallowedtoamuseherselfasshelikedtillteatime.Theeveningsweretheworstofall,forAuntMarchfelltotellinglongstoriesaboutheryouth,whichweresounutterablydullthatAmywasalwaysreadytogotobed,intendingtocryoverherhardfate,butusuallygoingtosleepbeforeshehadsqueezedoutmorethanatearortwo.
