Iwasawaybelowtheferrynow.Iroseup,andtherewasJackson’sIsland,abouttwomileandahalfdownstream,heavytimberedandstandingupoutofthemiddleoftheriver,biganddarkandsolid,likeasteamboatwithoutanylights.Therewarn’tanysignsofthebaratthehead—itwasallunderwaternow.
