ButIrecoveredalittlebeforethereturnofthewaves,andseeingIshouldbecoveredagainwiththewater,Iresolvedtoholdfastbyapieceoftherock,andsotoholdmybreath,ifpossible,tillthewavewentback. Now,asthewaveswerenotsohighasatfirst,beingnearland,Iheldmyholdtillthewaveabated, andthenfetchedanotherrun,whichbroughtmesoneartheshore,thatthenextwave,thoughitwentoverme,yetdidnotsoswallowmeupastocarrymeaway, andthenextrunItookIgottothemainland,where,tomygreatcomfort,Iclamberedupthecliffsoftheshore,andsatmedownuponthegrass,freefromdanger,andquiteoutofthereachofthewater.
Iwasnowlanded,andsafeonshore,andbegantolookupandthankGodthatmylifewassavedinacasewhereintherewassomeminutesbeforescarceanyroomtohope. Ibelieveitisimpossibletoexpresstothelifewhattheecstaciesandtransportsofthesoularewhenitissosaved,asImaysay,outoftheverygrave;
