           Anincessantbuzzingofhelicoptersfilledthetwilight.Everytwoandahalfminutesabellandthescreechofwhistlesannouncedthedepartureofoneofthelightmonorailtrainswhichcarriedthelowercastegolfersbackfromtheirseparatecoursetothemetropolis.

           LeninaandHenryclimbedintotheirmachineandstartedoff.AteighthundredfeetHenrysloweddownthehelicopterscrews,andtheyhungforaminuteortwopoisedabovethefadinglandscape.TheforestofBurnhamBeechesstretchedlikeagreatpoolofdarknesstowardsthebrightshoreofthewesternsky.Crimsonatthehorizon,thelastofthesunsetfaded,throughorange,upwardsintoyellowandapalewaterygreen.Northwards,beyondandabovethetrees,theInternalandExternalSecretionsfactoryglaredwithafierceelectricbrilliancefromeverywindowofitstwentystories.BeneaththemlaythebuildingsoftheGolfClub–thehugeLowerCastebarracksand,ontheothersideofadividingwall,thesmallerhousesreservedforAlphaandBetamembers.
