AllthathehadeverheardoftheviolentseparationofthevasttribesoftheDelawaresrushedacrosshismind,andheawaitedthepropermomenttospeak,withasuspensethatwasrenderednearlyintolerable,byhisinterestinthestake.Hiswish,however,wasanticipatedbythescout,whoturnedfromhisredfriend,saying—
