Pollyannalookedafterhimwithadisappointeddrooptoherusuallysmilinglips.

Pollyannawascarryingcalf’s-footjellytoMrs.Snowto-day. MissPollyHarringtonalwayssentsomethingtoMrs.Snowonceaweek. Shesaidshethoughtthatitwasherduty,inasmuchasMrs.Snowwaspoor,sick,andamemberofherchurch—itwasthedutyofallthechurchmemberstolookoutforher,ofcourse. MissPollydidherdutybyMrs.SnowusuallyonThursdayafternoons—notpersonally,butthroughNancy. To-dayPollyannahadbeggedtheprivilege,andNancyhadpromptlygivenittoherinaccordancewithMissPolly’sorders.
