Thenurse,withachoking"Sheheard!"stumbledtowardtheopendoor. ThetwodoctorsstayedwithMissPolly. Dr.Meadhadtostay—hehadcaughtMissPollyasshefell. Dr.Warrenstoodby,helplessly. ItwasnotuntilPollyannacriedoutagainsharplyandthenurseclosedthedoor,thatthetwomen,withadespairingglanceintoeachother’seyes,awoketotheimmediatedutyofbringingthewomaninDr.Mead’sarmsbacktounhappyconsciousness.
InPollyanna’sroom,thenursehadfoundapurringgraycatonthebedvainlytryingtoattracttheattentionofawhite-faced,wild-eyedlittlegirl.
