Someofthesongswereoldones;butsomeofthemwerequitenewandspokeconfidentlyofthesuddendeathofthedragonandofcargoesofrichpresentscomingdowntherivertoLake-town.ThesewereinspiredlargelybytheMasterandtheydidnotparticularlypleasethedwarves,butinthemeantimetheywerewellcontentedandtheyquicklygrewfatandstrongagain.Indeedwithinaweektheywerequiterecovered,fittedoutinfineclothoftheirpropercolours,withbeardscombedandtrimmed,andproudsteps.ThorinlookedandwalkedasifhiskingdomwasalreadyregainedandSmaugchoppedupintolittlepieces.
