           Sheherselfshotupwardsthroughthesky,withthestarsspinningaroundherlikegreatgoldenplates,andpresently,inblindinglight,shefeltthecoldraysofthemoonuponher.Sheshuthereyesasshewentoverit,andasthedazzlinggleampassedbehindherandshebentherheadtowardstheearthagain,shefeltthestarslipdownherhorn.Withagreatrushitfelloffandwentrollingdownthesky.Anditseemedtoherthatasitdisappearedintothedarknessgreatchordsofmusiccamefromitandechoedthroughtheair.

           InanotherminutetheRedCowhadlandedontheearthagain.TohergreatsurpriseshefoundthatshewasnotintheKing’sgardenbutinherowndandelionfield.

           Andshehadstoppeddancing!Herfeetwereassteadyasthoughtheyweremadeofstoneandshewalkedassedatelyasanyotherrespectablecow.Quietlyandserenelyshemovedacrossthefield,beheadinghergoldensoldiersasshewenttogreettheRedCalf.

           "I’msogladyou’reback!"saidtheRedCalf."I’vebeensolonely."

           TheRedCowkisseditandfelltomunchingthemeadow.Itwasherfirstgoodmealforaweek.Andbythetimeherhungerwassatisfiedshehadeatenupseveralregiments.Afterthatshefeltbetter.Shesoonbegantoliveherlifejustexactlyasshehadliveditbefore.

           Atfirstsheenjoyedherquietregularhabitsverymuch,andwasgladtobeabletoeatherbreakfastwithoutdancingandtoliedowninthegrassandsleepatnightinsteadofcurtseyingtothemoonuntilthemorning.

           Butafteralittleshebegantofeeluncomfortableanddissatisfied.
