ButMaryPoppinshurriedonandtheyhadtogowithher.BehindthemFatherChristmaswaswavinghishand,andtheFairyQueenontheChristmastreeandalltheotherdollsweresmilingsadlyandsaying,"Takemehome,somebody!"andtheaeroplaneswereallbeatingtheirwingsandsayinginbird-likevoices,"Letmefly!Ah,doletmefly!"
JaneandMichaelhurriedaway,closingtheirearstothoseenchantingvoices,andfeelingthatthetimeintheToyDepartmenthadbeenunreasonablyandcruellyshort.
Andthen,justastheycametowardstheshopentrance,theadventurehappened.
