           "Youdid,"saidtheBear."Andyouforgottotakethelidoff.Doyouknow,Iwasmorethantendaysworkingatthatlid?Bemorecarefulinthefuture."

           "Butwhyaren’tyouinyourcage?Areyoualwaysoutatnight?"saidMichael.

           "NoonlywhentheBirthdayfallsonaFullMoon.Butyoumustexcuseme.Imustattendtothegate."AndtheBearturnedawayandbegantospinthehandleoftheturnstileagain.

           JaneandMichael,holdingtheirtickets,walkedonintotheZoogrounds.Inthelightofthefullmooneverytreeandflowerandshrubwasvisible,andtheycouldseethehousesandcagesquiteclearly.

           "Thereseemstobealotgoingon,"observedMichael.

           And,indeed,therewas.Animalswererunningaboutinallthepaths,sometimesaccompaniedbybirdsandsometimesalone.Twowolvesranpastthechildren,talkingeagerlytoaverytallstorkwhowastip-toeingbetweenthemwithdainty,delicatemovements.JaneandMichaeldistinctlycaughtthewords"Birthday"and"FullMoon"astheywentby.

           Inthedistancethreecamelswerestrollingalongsidebyside,andnotfarawayabeaverandanAmericanvultureweredeepinconversation.Andtheyallseemedtothechildrentobediscussingthesamesubject.

           "WhoseBirthdayisit,Iwonder?"saidMichael,butJanewasmovingahead,gazingatacurioussight.
