TheFedaykinwatcherfromthetelescopeappearedbesidePaul,thetelescopeclutchedunderonearm.“TheShieldWallisbreached,Muad’Dib!”heshouted.
“Thestormisonthemandourgunnersalreadyarefiring.”
Paulthoughtofthestormsweepingacrossthebasin,thestaticchargewithinthewallofsandthatdestroyedeveryshieldbarrierintheenemycamp.
“Thestorm!”someoneshouted.“Wemustgetundercover,Muad’Dib!”
Paulcametohissenses,feelingthesandneedlesstinghisexposedcheeks.
Wearecommitted,hethought.Heputanarmaroundthesignalman’sshoulder,said:“Leavetheequipment!There’smoreinthetunnel.”Hefelthimselfbeingpulledaway,Fedaykinpressedaroundhimtoprotecthim.Theysqueezedintothetunnelmouth,feelingitscomparativesilence,turnedacornerintoasmallchamberwithglowglobesoverheadandanothertunnelopeningbeyond.
