TheyhadjustfinishedsingingitforthethirdtimewhenSquealer,attendedbytwodogs,approachedthemwiththeairofhavingsomethingimportanttosay. Heannouncedthat,byaspecialdecreeofComradeNapoleon,‘BeastsofEngland’hadbeenabolished. Fromnowonwardsitwasforbiddentosingit.
Theanimalsweretakenaback.
"Why?"criedMuriel.

Frightenedthoughtheywere,someoftheanimalsmightpossiblyhaveprotested,butatthismomentthesheepsetuptheirusualbleatingof"Fourlegsgood,twolegsbad,"whichwentonforseveralminutesandputanendtothediscussion.
So‘BeastsofEngland’washeardnomore. InitsplaceMinimus,thepoet,hadcomposedanothersongwhichbegan:
