Рапунцель

           Rapunzelwasgreatlyterrifiedwhenshesawthatamanhadcomeintoher,forshehadneverseenonebefore; buttheKing’ssonbeganspeakingsokindlytoher,andtoldhowhersinginghadenteredintohisheart,sothathecouldhavenopeaceuntilhehadseenherherself. ThenRapunzelforgotherterror,andwhenheaskedhertotakehimforherhusband,andshesawthathewasyoungandbeautiful,shethoughttoherself, "IcertainlylikehimmuchbetterthanoldmotherGothel,"andsheputherhandintohishand. 

           Shesaid: "Iwouldwillinglygowiththee,butIdonotknowhowIshallgetout. Whenthoucomest,bringeachtimeasilkenrope,andIwillmakealadder,andwhenitisquitereadyIwillgetdownbyitoutofthetower,andthoushalttakemeawayonthyhorse." Theyagreedthatheshouldcometohereveryevening,astheoldwomancameintheday-time. 

           SothewitchknewnothingofallthisuntilonceRapunzelsaidtoherunwittingly, "MotherGothel,howisitthatyouclimbupheresoslowly,andtheKing’ssoniswithmeinamoment?" 

           "Owickedchild,"criedthewitch,"whatisthisIhear! IthoughtIhadhiddentheefromalltheworld,andthouhastbetrayedme!" InherangersheseizedRapunzelbyherbeautifulhair,struckherseveraltimeswithherlefthand, andthengraspingapairofshearsinherright-snip,snap-thebeautifullockslayontheground.
