"Oh,sure!Ilikesomebodytosticktothepointandall.ButIdon’tlikethemtosticktoomuchtothepoint.Idon’tknow.IguessIdon’tlikeitwhensomebodystickstothepointallthetime.TheboysthatgotthebestmarksinOralExpressionweretheonesthatstucktothepointallthetime—Iadmitit.Buttherewasthisoneboy,RichardKinsella.Hedidn’tsticktothepointtoomuch,andtheywerealwaysyelling‘Digression!’athim.Itwasterrible,becauseinthefirstplace,hewasaverynervousguy—Imeanhewasaverynervousguy—andhislipswerealwaysshakingwheneveritwashistimetomakeaspeech,andyoucouldhardlyhearhimifyouweresittingwayinthebackoftheroom.Whenhislipssortofquitshakingalittlebit,though,Ilikedhisspeechesbetterthananybodyelse’s.Hepracticallyflunkedthecourse,though,too.HegotaDplusbecausetheykeptyelling‘Digression!’athimallthetime.Forinstance,hemadethisspeechaboutthisfarmhisfatherboughtinVermont.Theykeptyelling‘Digression!’athimthewholetimehewasmakingit,andthisteacher,Mr.Vinson,gavehimanFonitbecausehehadn’ttoldwhatkindofanimalsandvegetablesandstuffgrewonthefarmandall.Whathedidwas,RichardKinsella,he’dstarttellingyouallaboutthatstuff—thenallofasuddenhe’dstarttellingyouaboutthisletterhismothergotfromhisuncle,andhowhisunclegotpolioandallwhenhewasforty-twoyearsold,andhowhewouldn’tletanybodycometoseehiminthehospitalbecausehedidn’twantanybodytoseehimwithabraceon.Itdidn’thavemuchtodowiththefarm—Iadmitit—butitwasnice.It’snicewhensomebodytellsyouabouttheiruncle.Especiallywhentheystartouttellingyouabouttheirfather’sfarmandthenallofasuddengetmoreinterestedintheiruncle.
