"Howdidtheycomehere?"ChristopherRobinsaid,"IntheUsualWay,ifyouknowwhatImean,Pooh,"andPooh,whodidn’t,said"Oh!"Thenhenoddedhisheadtwiceandsaid,"IntheUsualWay.Ah!"ThenhewenttocalluponhisfriendPiglettoseewhathethoughtaboutit.AndatPiglet’shousehefoundRabbit.Sotheyalltalkedaboutittogether.
"WhatIdon’tlikeaboutitisthis,"saidRabbit.
"Herearewe—you,Pooh,andyou,Piglet,andMe—andsuddenly"
"AndEeyore,"saidPooh.
"AndEeyore—andthensuddenly—"
"AndOwl,"saidPooh
"AndOwl—andthenallofasudden—"
"Oh,andEeyore,"saidPooh."Iwasforgettinghim."
"Here—we—are,"saidRabbitveryslowlyandcarefully,all—or—us,andthen,suddenly,wewakeuponemorning,andwhatdowefind?WefindaStrangeAnimalamongus.Ananimalofwhomwehadneverevenheardbefore!Ananimalwhocarriesherfamilyaboutwithherinherpocket!SupposeIcarriedmyfamilyaboutwithmeinmypocket,howmanypocketsshouldIwant?"
"Sixteen,"saidPiglet.
"Seventeen,isn’tit?"saidRabbit."Andonemoreforahandkerchief—that’seighteen.Eighteenpocketsinonesuit!Ihaven’ttime."
