THEPigletlivedinaverygrandhouseinthemiddleofabeech-tree,andthebeech-treewasinthemiddleoftheforest,andthePigletlivedinthemiddleofthehouse.Nexttohishousewasapieceofbrokenboardwhichhad:"TRESPASSERSW"onit.WhenChristopherRobinaskedthePigletwhatitmeant,hesaiditwashisgrandfather’sname,andhadbeeninthefamilyforalongtime.ChristopherRobinsaidyoucouldn’tbecalledTrespassersW,andPigletsaidyes,youcould,becausehisgrandfatherwas,anditwasshortforTrespassersWill,whichwasshortforTrespassersWilliam.Andhisgrandfatherhadhadtwonamesincasehelostone—Trespassersafteranuncle,andWilliamafterTrespassers.
"I’vegottwonames,"saidChristopherRobincarelessly.
"Well,thereyouare,thatprovesit,"saidPiglet.
Onefinewinter’sdaywhenPigletwasbrushingawaythesnowinfrontofhishouse,hehappenedtolookup,andtherewasWinnie-the-Pooh.Poohwaswalkingroundandroundinacircle,thinkingofsomethingelse,andwhenPigletcalledtohim,hejustwentonwalking.
"Hallo!"saidPiglet,"whatareyoudoing?"
"Hunting,"saidPooh.
"Huntingwhat?"
"Trackingsomething,"saidWinnie-the-Poohverymysteriously.
"Trackingwhat?"saidPiglet,comingcloser
"That’sjustwhatIaskmyself.Iaskmyself,What?"
"Whatdoyouthinkyou’llanswer?"
"IshallhavetowaituntilIcatchupwithit,"saidWinnie-the-Pooh."Now,lookthere."Hepointedtothegroundinfrontofhim.
