Hisappearance,yousee,issoremarkablethatnoonecanpasshimwithoutobservinghim. Ashockoforangehair,apalefacedisfiguredbyahorriblescar,which,byitscontraction,hasturneduptheouteredgeofhisupperlip,abulldogchin,andapairofverypenetratingdarkeyes,whichpresentasingularcontrasttothecolourofhishair,allmarkhimoutfromamidthecommoncrowdofmendicantsandso,too,doeshiswit,forheiseverreadywithareplytoanypieceofchaffwhichmaybethrownathimbythepassers-by.
