           InsteadofremainingathomethatnighthedeterminedtogoandseeThomasinandherhusband.IfhefoundopportunityhewouldalludetothecauseoftheseparationbetweenEustaciaandhimself,keepingsilence,however,onthefactthattherewasathirdpersoninhishousewhenhismotherwasturnedaway.IfitprovedthatWildevewasinnocentlytherehewoulddoubtlessopenlymentionit.IfheweretherewithunjustintentionsWildeve,beingamanofquickfeeling,mightpossiblysaysomethingtorevealtheextenttowhichEustaciawascompromised.
