JustthenJohn,thecook,aboysomesixteenyearsofage,andblackerthananycrow,camerunningin,lookedsteadilyinourfaces,thenturninground,withoutsayingasmuchas"howd’yedo,"ranbacktothekitchen,laughingloudly,asifourcomingwasagreatjokeindeed.
