           HisideawasthattheprofitsIspokeofmightgotoendowresearch,butthat,ofcourse,wasamatterwehadtosettlelater.“That’sallright,”Ishouted,“that’sallright.”Thegreatpoint,asIinsisted,wastogetthethingdone.

           “Hereisasubstance,”Icried,“nohome,nofactory,nofortress,noshipcandaretobewithout—moreuniversallyapplicableeventhanapatentmedicine.Thereisn’tasolitaryaspectofit,notoneofitstenthousandpossibleusesthatwillnotmakeusrich,Cavor,beyondthedreamsofavarice!”

           “No!”hesaid.“Ibegintosee.It’sextraordinaryhowonegetsnewpointsofviewbytalkingoverthings!”

           “Andasithappensyouhavejusttalkedtotherightman!”

           “Isupposenoone,”hesaid,“isabsolutelyaversetoenormouswealth.Ofcoursethereisonething—”
