           1.Whenyouwakeupinthemorning,tellyourself:ThepeopleIdealwithtodaywillbemeddling,ungrateful,arrogant,dishonest,jealous,andsurly.Theyarelikethisbecausetheycan’ttellgoodfromevil.ButIhaveseenthebeautyofgood,andtheuglinessofevil,andhaverecognizedthatthewrongdoerhasanaturerelatedtomyown—notofthesamebloodorbirth,butthesamemind,andpossessingashareofthedivine.Andsononeofthemcanhurtme.Noonecanimplicatemeinugliness.NorcanIfeelangryatmyrelative,orhatehim.Wewereborntoworktogetherlikefeet,hands,andeyes,likethetworowsofteeth,upperandlower.Toobstructeachotherisunnatural.Tofeelangeratsomeone,toturnyourbackonhim:theseareobstructions.

           2.WhateverthisisthatIam,itisfleshandalittlespiritandanintelligence.Throwawayyourbooks;stoplettingyourselfbedistracted.Thatisnotallowed.Instead,asifyouweredyingrightnow,despiseyourflesh.Amessofblood,piecesofbone,awoventangleofnerves,veins,arteries.Considerwhatthespiritis:air,andneverthesameair,butvomitedoutandgulpedinagaineveryinstant.Finally,theintelligence.Thinkofitthisway:Youareanoldman.Stopallowingyourmindtobeaslave,tobejerkedaboutbyselfishimpulses,tokickagainstfateandthepresent,andtomistrustthefuture.

           3.WhatisdivineisfullofProvidence.
