Atthebottomofthehill,belowwheretheIronManhadcomeoverthehighcliff,theydugadeep,enormoushole. Aholewiderthanahouse,andasdeepasthreetreesoneontopoftheother. Itwasacolossalhole.Astupendoushole!Andthesidesofitweresheeraswalls.
Theypushedalltheearthofftooneside.
Theycoveredtheholewithbranchesandthebranchestheycoveredwithstrawandthestrawwithsoil,sowhentheyfinishedtheholelookedlikeafreshly-ploughedfield.

Butonhiswaytothelorryhe’dbecrossingthehole,andthemomenthesteppedwithhisgreatweightontothatsoilhelduponlywithstrawandbranches,hewouldcrashthroughintotheholeandwouldnevergetout. They’dfindhimthereinthehole. Thenthey’dbringthefewbull-dozersandearth-moversthathehadn’talreadyeaten,andthey’dpushthepileofearthinontopofhim,andburyhimforeverinthehole. Theywerecertainnowthatthey’dgethim.
