           ThecompanyturnedthenawayfromtheCoombandfromthewoodandtooktheroadtowardstheFords.Legolasfollowedreluctantly.Thesunhadset,alreadyithadsunkbehindtherimoftheworld;butastheyrodeoutfromtheshadowofthehillsandlookedwesttotheGapofRohantheskywasstillred,andaburninglightwasunderthefloatingclouds.Darkagainstittherewheeledandflewmanyblack-wingedbirds.Somepassedoverheadwithmournfulcries,returningtotheirhomesamongtherocks.

           ’Thecarrion-fowlhavebeenbusyaboutthebattle-field,’saidÉomer.
