FifteenyearsafterheleftSpain,Sebastiánd‘Anconiasentforthegirlheloved;shehadwaitedforhim.Whenshearrived,shefoundthesilvercoat-of-armsabovetheentranceofamarblepalace,thegardensofagreatestate,andmountainsslashedbypitsofredoreinthedistance.Hecarriedherinhisarmsacrossthethresholdofhishome.Helookedyoungerthanwhenshehadseenhimlast.
