Therewereagreatmanyoldclothes, whichshethrewoutontheatticfloor. Therewereatelescope,afewbooks,threepistols,asword,andabagofgoldpieces.
"Tiddelipomandpiddeliday,"saidPippicontentedly.
"It’ssoexciting!"said,Tommy.
Pippigatheredeverythinginthenightshirt,anddowntheywentintothekitchenagain. Annikawasperfectlysatisfiedtoleavetheattic.
"Neverletchildrenhandlefirearms,"saidPippiandtookapistolineachhandandpreparedtofire. "Otherwisesomeaccidentcaneasilyhappen,"shesaid,shootingoffbothpistolsatonce. "Thatwasagoodbang,"sheannouncedandlookedupintheceiling. Thebulletshadmadetwoholes.
"Whoknows?"shesaidhopefully. "Perhapsthebulletshavegonerightthroughtheceilingandhitsomeghostsinthelegs. Thatwillteachthemtothinktwicebeforetheysetouttoscareanyinnocentlittlechildrenagain. Becauseeveniftherearen’tanyghosts,theydon’tneedtogoroundscaringfolksoutoftheirwits,Ishouldthink.Wouldyoueachlikeapistol?"sheasked.
Tommywasenchanted,andAnnikaalsoverymuchwantedapistol,provideditwasn’tloaded.
