           TommyandAnnikawereutterlyhorrified.

           "Whatwouldwedowithhim?Oh,thereareplentyofthingswecoulddowithhim. Wecouldkeephiminalittlerabbithutchinsteadofarabbitandfeedhimondandelions. Butifyoudon’twantto,Idon’tcare. ThoughitdoesbothermetothinkthatsomeotherThing-Findermaycomealongandgrabhim." 

           Theywenton.SuddenlyPippigaveaterrificyell. "Well,Ineversawthelike,"shecried,asshepickedupalarge,rustyoldtincanfromthegrass. "Whatafind!Whatafind!Gang,that’ssomethingyoucanneverhavetoomanyof." 

           Tommylookedatthecandoubtfully. "Whatcanyouuseitfor?" 

           "Oh,youcanuseitinallsortsofways,"saidPippi. "Onewayistoputcookiesinit.ThenitbecomesadelightfulJarwithCookies. Anotherwayisnottoputcookiesinit. ThenitbecomesaJarwithoutCookies.Thatcertainlyisn’tquitesodelightful, butstillthat’sgoodtoo." 

           Sheexaminedthecan,whichwasindeedrustyandhadaholeinthebottom. 

           "Itlooksalmostasifthiswereajarwithoutcookies,"shesaidthoughtfully."Butyoucanputitoveryourheadandpretendthatitismidnight."
