MissHoneydidjustthat,andwithinacoupleofweeksshehadmovedintoTheRedHouse,theveryplaceinwhichshehadbeenbroughtupandwhereluckilyallthefamilyfurnitureandpictureswerestillaround.Fromthenon,MatildawasawelcomevisitortoTheRedHouseeverysingleeveningafterschool,andaveryclosefriendshipbegantodevelopbetweentheteacherandthesmallchild.
Backatschool,greatchangeswerealsotakingplace.AssoonasitbecameclearthatMissTrunchbullhadcompletelydisappearedfromthescene,theexcellentMr.TrilbywasappointedHeadTeacherinherplace.Andverysoonafterthat,MatildawasmovedupintothetopformwhereMissPlimsollquicklydiscoveredthatthisamazingchildwaseverybitasbrightasMissHoneyhadsaid.
Oneeveningafewweekslater,MatildawashavingteawithMissHoneyinthekitchenofTheRedHouseafterschoolastheyalwaysdid,whenMatildasaidsuddenly,"Somethingstrangehashappenedtome,MissHoney."
