Surveyingtheconditions,Ichosethemoresoutherlyofthetwowindowsasmyavenueofescape;planningtolandontheinnerslopeoftheroofandmakeforthenearestsky-light.OnceinsideoneofthedecrepitbrickstructuresIwouldhavetoreckonwithpursuit;butIhopedtodescendanddodgeinandoutofyawningdoorwaysalongtheshadowedcourtyard,eventuallygettingtoWashingtonStreetandslippingoutoftowntowardthesouth.
