OnthethirddayfollowinghismatriculationhereceivedanotificationfromMr.Hart,thecollegeregistrar,tocallathisofficeandarrangehisschedule.Benjamin,glancinginthemirror,decidedthathishairneededanewapplicationofitsbrowndye,butananxiousinspectionofhisbureaudrawerdisclosedthatthedyebottlewasnotthere.Thenheremembered—hehademptieditthedaybeforeandthrownitaway.
Hewasinadilemma.Hewasdueattheregistrar’sinfiveminutes.Thereseemedtobenohelpforit—hemustgoashewas.Hedid.
