Immediatelyathickcopperygreenchainappearedoutofthinair,extendingfromthedepthsofthewaterintoDumbledore’sclenchedhand.Dumbledoretappedthechain,whichbegantoslidethroughhisfistlikeasnake,coilingitselfonthegroundwithaclinkingsoundthatechoednoisilyofftherockywalls,pullingsomethingfromthedepthsoftheblackwater.Harrygaspedastheghostlyprowofatinyboatbrokethesurface,glowingasgreenasthechain,andfloated,withbarelyaripple,towardtheplaceonthebankwhereHarryandDumbledorestood.
"Howdidyouknowthatwasthere?"Harryaskedinastonishment.
"Magicalwaysleavestraces,"saidDumbledore,astheboathitthebankwithagentlebump,"sometimesverydistinctivetraces.ItaughtTomRiddle.Iknowhisstyle."
