Throughouttheday,everywheretheywenttheysawsignsoftightersecurity;ProfessorFlitwickcouldbeseenteachingthefrontdoorstorecognizealargepictureofSiriusBlack;Filchwassuddenlybustlingupanddownthecorridors,boardingupeverythingfromtinycracksinthewallstomouseholes.SirCadoganhadbeenfired.Hisportraithadbeentakenbacktoitslonelylandingontheseventhfloor,andtheFatLadywasback.Shehadbeenexpertlyrestored,butwasstillextremelynervous,andhadagreedtoreturntoherjobonlyonconditionthatshewasgivenextraprotection.Abunchofsurlysecuritytrollshadbeenhiredtoguardher.Theypacedthecorridorinamenacinggroup,talkingingruntsandcomparingthesizeoftheirclubs.
Harrycouldn’thelpnoticingthatthestatueoftheone-eyedwitchonthethirdfloorremainedunguardedandunblocked.ItseemedthatFredandGeorgehadbeenrightinthinkingthatthey—andnowHarry,Ron,andHermione—weretheonlyoneswhoknewaboutthehiddenpassagewaywithinit.
"D’youreckonweshouldtellsomeone?"HarryaskedRon.
"Weknowhe’snotcominginthroughHoneyduke’s,"saidRondismissively."We’d’veheardiftheshophadbeenbrokeninto."
