November23. —Myotherworkhavingnowstoodstillbecauseofmymakingthesetools,whentheywerefinishedIwenton, andworkingeveryday,asmystrengthandtimeallowed,Ispenteighteendaysentirelyinwideninganddeepeningmycave,thatitmightholdmygoodscommodiously.

UponthisdisasterIhadagreatdealofworktodooveragain; forIhadthelooseearthtocarryout;and,whichwasofmoreimportance,Ihadtheceilingtopropup,sothatImightbesurenomorewouldcomedown.
