Iwantednothingthathecouldfetchme,noranycompanythathecouldmakeuptome; Ionlywantedtohavehimtalktome,butthatwouldnotdo. AsIobservedbefore,Ifoundpen,ink,andpaper,andIhusbandedthemtotheutmost; andIshallshowthatwhilemyinklasted,Ikeptthingsveryexact; butafterthatwasgone,Icouldnot,forIcouldnotmakeanyinkbyanymeansthatIcoulddevise.

ThiswantoftoolsmadeeveryworkIdidgoonheavily; anditwasnearawholeyearbeforeIhadentirelyfinishedmylittlepaleorsurroundedhabitation.
