Themanthathadthelanceordartdidnotflyfromthem,buttherestdid; however,asthetwocreaturesrandirectlyintothewater,theydidnotseemtooffertofalluponanyofthenegroes, butplungedthemselvesintothesea,andswamabout,asiftheyhadcomefortheirdiversion. Atlast,oneofthembegantocomenearerourboatthanatfirstIexpected; butIlayreadyforhim,forIhadloadedmygunwithallpossibleexpedition,andbadeXuryloadboththeothers. Assoonashecamefairlywithinmyreach,Ifired,andshothimdirectlyintothehead; immediatelyhesunkdownintothewater,butroseinstantly,andplungedupanddown,asifhewasstrugglingforlife,andsoindeedhewas.
