           Whenautumnnightswerelonganddrear,

           Andforestwalksweredarkanddim,

           Howsweetlyonthepilgrim’sear

           Waswonttostealthehermit’shymn

           DevotionborrowsMusic’stone,

           AndMusictookDevotion’swing;

           And,likethebirdthathailsthesun,

           Theysoartoheaven,andsoaringsing.
