           Feeturnedandfollowedhimwithoutaword.Bobgotupandwentoutontotheveranda.Therestoftheboyssatshufflingforawhileandthenjoinedhim.Paddyhadn’tappearedatall.WithoutawordMrs.SmithtooktheperambulatorfromitscorneroftheverandaandcarefullyputthesleepingJimsandPatsyintoit.ShelookedacrossatMeggie,tearsrunningdownherface.

           "Meggie,I’mgoingbacktothebighouse,andI’mtakingJimsandPatsywithme.I’llbebackinthemorning,butit’sbestifthebabiesstaywithMinnieandCatandmeforawhile.Tellyourmother."
