           Itwascarvenitcouldnotpossiblyhavebeenitsnaturalshape,butjewelsdonotshowtheworkingofthetoolintotheshapeofascarab,withitswingsfolded,anditslegsandfeelerspressedbacktoitssides.Shiningthroughitswondrous"pigeon’sblood"colourweresevendifferentstars,eachofsevenpoints,insuchpositionthattheyreproducedexactlythefigureofthePlough.Therecouldbenopossiblemistakeastothisinthemindofanyonewhohadevernotedtheconstellation.Onitweresomehieroglyphicfigures,cutwiththemostexquisiteprecision,asIcouldseewhenitcametomyturntousethemagnifying-glass,whichMr.Trelawnytookfromhispocketandhandedtous.
