Attheendofit,sothatitwouldfacetheeast,wasapillaredportico,hewnoutofthesolidrock.Thepillarsweremassiveandwereseven-sided,athingwhichwehadnotcomeacrossinanyothertomb.SculpturedonthearchitravewastheBoatoftheMoon,containingHathor,cow-headedandbearingthediskandplumes,andthedog-headedHapi,theGodoftheNorth.ItwassteeredbyHarpocratestowardsthenorth,representedbythePoleStarsurroundedbyDracoandUrsaMajor.Inthelatterthestarsthatformwhatwecallthe’Plough’werecutlargerthananyoftheotherstars;andwerefilledwithgoldsothat,inthelightoftorches,theyseemedtoflamewithaspecialsignificance.Passingwithintheportico,wefoundtwoofthearchitecturalfeaturesofarocktomb,theChamber,orChapel,andthePit,allcompleteasVanHuynhadnoticed,thoughinhisdaythenamesgiventothesepartsbytheEgyptiansofoldwereunknown.
"TheStele,orrecord,whichhaditsplacelowdownonthewesternwall,wassoremarkablethatweexamineditminutely,evenbeforegoingonourwaytofindthemummywhichwastheobjectofoursearch.ThisStelewasagreatslaboflapislazuli,cutalloverwithhieroglyphicfiguresofsmallsizeandofmuchbeauty.Thecuttingwasfilledinwithsomecementofexceedingfineness,andofthecolourofpurevermilion.Theinscriptionbegan:
"’Tera,QueenoftheEgypts,daughterofAntef,MonarchoftheNorthandtheSouth.’’DaughteroftheSun,’’QueenoftheDiadems’.
