Itwasquitealongwhilebeforeanyofthemdaredtoturnthatcomer.Bythattimethedwarveshadgoneonagain,along,long,wayonintothedarktunnelsofthegoblins’realm.Whenthegoblinsdiscoveredthat,theyputouttheirtorchesandtheyslippedonsoftshoes,andtheychoseouttheirveryquickestrunnerswiththesharpestearsandeyes.Theseranforward,asswiftasweaselsinthedark,andwithhardlyanymorenoisethanbats.ThatiswhyneitherBilbo,northedwarves,norevenGandalfheardthemcoming.Nordidtheyseethem.
