Astheyworkedtheravensbroughtthemconstanttidings.InthiswaytheylearnedthattheElvenkinghadturnedasidetotheLake,andtheystillhadabreathingspace.Betterstill,theyheardthatthreeoftheirponieshadescapedandwerewanderingwildfardownthebanksoftheRunningRiver,notfarfromwheretherestoftheirstoreshadbeenleft.Sowhiletheotherswentonwiththeirwork,FiliandKiliweresent,guidedbyaraven,tofindtheponiesandbringbackalltheycould.
Theywerefourdaysgone,andbythattimetheyknewthatthejoinedarmiesoftheLake-menandtheElveswerehurryingtowardstheMountain.
