Outtheywentundertheoverhangingbranchesofthetreesoneitherbank.Bilbowonderedwhatthedwarveswerefeelingandwhetheralotofwaterwasgettingintotheirtubs.Someofthosethatbobbedalongbyhiminthegloomseemedprettylowinthewater,andheguessedthatthesehaddwarvesinside."IdohopeIputthelidsontightenough!"hethought,butbeforelonghewasworryingtoomuchabouthimselftorememberthedwarves.Hemanagedtokeephisheadabovethewater,buthewasshiveringwiththecold,andhewonderedifhewoulddieofitbeforetheluckturned,andhowmuchlongerhewouldbeabletohangon,andwhetherheshouldriskthechanceoflettinggoandtryingtoswimtothebank.
