Theystartedagainbeforethedaywasbroad.NotthatmostoftheCompanywereeagertohurrysouthwards:theywerecontentthatthedecision,whichtheymustmakeatlatestwhentheycametoRaurosandtheTindrockIsle,stilllaysomedaysahead;andtheylettheRiverbearthemonatitsownpace,havingnodesiretohastentowardstheperilsthatlaybeyond,whichevercoursetheytookintheend.Aragornletthemdriftwiththestreamastheywished,husbandingtheirstrengthagainstwearinesstocome.Butheinsistedthatatleasttheyshouldstartearlyeachdayandjourneyonfarintotheevening;forhefeltinhisheartthattimewaspressing,andhefearedthattheDarkLordhadnotbeenidlewhiletheylingeredinLorien.
Nonethelesstheysawnosignofanenemythatday,northenext.Thedullgreyhourspassedwithoutevent.Asthethirddayoftheirvoyageworeonthelandschangedslowly:thetreesthinnedandthenfailedaltogether.
