TheMenandDwarvesweremostlytalkingofdistanteventsandtellingnewsofakindthatwasbecomingonlytoofamiliar.TherewastroubleawayintheSouth,anditseemedthattheMenwhohadcomeuptheGreenwaywereonthemove,lookingforlandswheretheycouldfindsomepeace.TheBree-folkweresympathetic,butplainlynotveryreadytotakealargenumberofstrangersintotheirlittleland.Oneofthetravellers,asquint-eyedill-favouredfellow,wasforetellingthatmoreandmorepeoplewouldbecomingnorthinthenearfuture.‘Ifroomisn’tfoundforthem,they’llfinditforthemselves.
