           "What?Whatwasit?" 

           "Liquor!andtheplacehasbeenshutup. Liedown,childwhataturnyoudidgiveme!" 

           "Onlytellmejustonethingonlyjustoneplease! WasitTomSawyerthatfoundit?" 

           Thewidowburstintotears. "Hush,hush,child,hush! I’vetoldyoubefore,youmustNOTtalk. Youarevery,verysick!" 

           Thennothingbutliquorhadbeenfound; therewouldhavebeenagreatpowwowifithadbeenthegold. Sothetreasurewasgoneforevergoneforever! Butwhatcouldshebecryingabout? Curiousthatsheshouldcry. 

           ThesethoughtsworkedtheirdimwaythroughHuck’smind,andunderthewearinesstheygavehimhefellasleep. Thewidowsaidtoherself: 

           "Therehe’sasleep,poorwreck. TomSawyerfindit! PitybutsomebodycouldfindTomSawyer! Ah,thereain’tmanyleft,now,that’sgothopeenough,orstrengthenough,either,togoonsearching."
