           Again,Paulraisedhisvoice:“Youthinkit’stimeIcalledoutStilgarandchangedtheleadershipofthetroops!”Beforetheycouldrespond,Paulhurledhisvoiceattheminanger:“DoyouthinktheLisanal-Gaibthatstupid?”

           Therewasstunnedsilence.

           He’sacceptingthereligiousmantle,Jessicathought.Hemustnotdoit!

           “It’stheway!”someoneshouted.

           Paulspokedryly,probingtheemotionalundercurrents.“Wayschange.”

           Anangryvoiceliftedfromacornerofthecavern:“We’llsaywhat’stochange!”

           AndJessicaheardthesubtleintonationsasheusedthepowersofVoiceshehadtaughthim.

           “Youwillsay,”heagreed.“Butfirstyouwillhearmysay.”

           Stilgarmovedalongtheledge,hisbeardedfaceimpassive.“Thatistheway,too,”hesaid.“ThevoiceofanyFremenmaybeheardinCouncil.Paul-Muad’DibisaFremen.”
